30th March 2025
Wow, it’s a milestone and I almost missed it. If it hadn’t been for the memories aspect of Facebook, my 10th anniversary as an independent business consultant would have passed me by. The memory, by the way is this, a notice in Creative Head magazine, which, all those years ago, made me feel incredibly proud.

And what a decade it has been, there have been many highs and lows throughout the years, but, thankfully, mainly highs! It (my consultancy) started with a bang, a contract with Schwarzkopf, helping with the education materials, from basic colour information to degree level, my new role began with an absolute bang! It came crashing quickly when budget restraints meant I was ‘let go’. But all wasn’t lost, I had started a small social media business helping companies that didn’t (or don’t) have funds for a full blown PR company to help them. Over the last 10 years I have looked after an amazing array of business social posts, from hairdressing salons and product companies, to audiologists, estate agents, scissor companies, online boutique stores, a boiler company (seriously), skin care, A spinal centre, job recruitment, furniture stores, a photographer, a board game company, property renovations, and business consultants, all have been part of my social media world, which has taught me so much about business on a much broader scale.
Plus, over the last ten years I have delivered training to lots and lots of hairdressers and barbers; in salons, collectively and online, something that I always thoroughly enjoy doing.
Plus, product manufacturers; I have had the pleasure of working alongside some amazing brands, from Schwarzkopf in Germany, Goldwell (memories of being invited to Tenerife to deliver a presentation), Moroccanoil USA (memories of flying to New York and back in less than 24 hours) , British Hair, Davines, Joy Distribution, Colour House International (the incredible Colour Undo™️) Olaplex, Alan Howard and many more.
Plus, being invited to present at Salon International on the business stage, and being asked to judge BHBA25, a real highlight to celebrate my 10th anniversary, and being one of the few ‘elite’ to have been interviewed for Dom Lehane’s podcasts twice.
Plus, this website has been fortunate enough to receive countless goodies for review, and the panel of hairdressers, family and friends who get to use brands and then share their feedback have created something which has proven to be immensely rewarding.
Plus, 3 books, my biggest achievement over the last decade. An idea that stemmed from that meeting in Tenerife and someone saying to me ‘you should write a book’ – which I did, not once, but three times.
Did I think, looking back over the last ten years that, when I started that it would have led to so much happening? Absolutely not! But boy oh boy, what a fantastic journey it has been. And it’s not over yet!
