Don’t Panic – Think! This is not a post suggesting it’s time to get your salon Christmas deccies out on display. But it is a post about Christmas. As of today, there are just 135 days till the big day, and whilst it seems like a lifetime away, it will be here before you know it.

I’m not suggesting you sit down with an egg nog and a slice of Christmas cake to get you in the right frame of mind for the busiest quarter of the year, and  I don’t expects you to turn on Netflix and watch Elf. But what I do think you need to do is start thinking about and planning  your festive promotions.

Hopefully, your product suppliers have already created, and presented to you some fantastic deals that you can talk about with your clients. If they haven’t yet done so, believe me it will be happening very soon. That’s a big first step toward you having a super successful lead up to the festive season. Remember, for serious retailers, Christmas doesn’t start on Dec 1st, it begins in the next couple of weeks.

That doesn’t mean you have to decorate the salon, even I’d struggle with that, and I really love Christmas! But what you do need to do is start thinking about your strategy, and how you are going to share information with your clients so that the (festive) seed is planted in their mind.

Major businesses that know what shopping is all about will very soon start dropping hints to their customers; salons need to do the same! Alongside that, YOU need to think about what you might introduce into the salon that can add some incremental revenue; gift ideas that are appealing, affordable and exciting. It’s a fact, impulse purchases rocket throughout the lead up to Christmas, so make sure you take advantage of that.

As well as ‘STOCKING UP’ it’s also a good idea to think about plans for early 2026 when salons are historically quiet. Link special offers for January and February to products you are promoting throughout September to December. perhaps a free treatment with a full price blow-dry as a thank you for ‘shopping’ with you. Anything that feels generous without busting the bank will help get clients through your doors early next year, whilst also generating revenue for retail sales.

Think about hosting party nights where clients are invited to the salon to browse your festive offers, perhaps with canapés and fizz to make the event feel festive! And if you have a team member who is creative, offer a gift wrapping service as well.

Don’t Panic, this blog is simply here to get you thinking about the possibilities that Christmas, and what the lead up to it can bring.
