It’s less than 14 weeks till Christmas Day 2021, and it’s time to start thinking about what you are doing to encourage your clients to purchases gifts from you. It might seem a long way off but ….

most of your clients now only have 3 pay-cheques to shop with.

This blogpost isn’t meant to scare you or make you worry about your festive plans, it’s simply here to help you realise that this year, this Christmas, unlike any other, including last years lockdown version, is going to be very different from most we have ever known.

We are reading in the press and hearing on the news about shortages of almost everything, this is mainly due to new Brexit rules and a shortage of drivers, containers, basic materials and everything else we used to take for granted.

It’s a bit like a ‘perfect storm’ where everything is coming together slowly slowly, leading to a situation where consumers will be panic buying anything they can get their hands on.

Me, I’m most worried about the potential shortfall in wine …. it’s a real problem and one I intend to deal with as of now, that doesn’t mean I’m going to start stock-piling, remember the toilet roll fiasco last year, it just means I will have a back up supply, just in case.

What it also means is that I am thinking ahead and planning my Christmas shopping right here right now. I have already purchased some gifts! And believe me, if I have, so have some of your clients.

The single most important thing you have to take into consideration is ….. online shopping. And it doesn’t matter if you have an e-commerce platform or not, if it doesn’t have festive gifts on it, your clients will look elsewhere for them. If you have had dealings with your suppliers and they have showcased their Christmas gift packs to you, start talking about them right now!! Share them on your social platforms, and start arranging ‘festive parties’ that clients can come along to.

Do everything in your power to make sure clients know that you will be stocking fabulous festive gifts for them to purchase, get them excited about what you have coming soon. Don’t get me wrong, I know, it feels like it’s too soon, but as we have seen from all the major retailers, they are biting the bullet and launching sooner than their usual dates. John Lewis are putting their Christmas departments in store as we speak, partly because the internet has seen a staggering rise in searches for ‘Christmas gifts’.

So don’t miss out, get your teams on board right away, encourage them to start telling. their clients about the gifts packs coming to your salon soon, get everyone onboard with the festive push and encourage shopping in your environment, not online!

Don’t worry about the perfect storm thats heading our way, instead focus in on the positive messages you can share about Christmas 2021 and the assortment of goodies you will have available.

But …. still make sure you get yourselves some wine in stock, just in case!

Drawing on personal experiences, salon business and the challenges sales people face in their daily life,
I’ve created a story that can be used in salons and on sales calls that will help overcome the challenges faced in the world of retailing.
