I was recently invited to present at the Moroccanoil Elite Showcase event held in the rather stunning setting of The Grove Hotel in Chandler’s Cross. This kind of event is a particular favourite of mine as it allows hairdressers from across the UK to come together and learn new skills whilst enjoying each other’s company.
Over my many years in the world of hairdressing I have seen lots of elaborate, big events that showcase what this fabulous industry is all about, and I’m delighted to say Moroccanoil’s event did not disappoint. From the fab hotel to the presentations, everything was just perfect.
Check out the Joy Instagram for lots of pics and links.

*Trust me to have my eyes shut!!
The team at Joy pulled out all the stops, the area of the hotel was decorated with fabulous imagery, lots of products to sample, plus a Moroccanoil bicycle…. of course I sat on it!

Plus a Moroccanoil telephone box, a huge selfie area (a must these days) and even an Argan tree festooned with flowers and mini bottles of the new Purple Treatment.
Here’s the tree before it was decorated with the Purple Treatments, and yes, of course I had to have my photo taken at every opportunity!

After guests had arrived and settled down after sumptuous lunch, the presentations started in earnest. CEO of Joy Limited, George Spears opened up the event and explained the itinerary, he then welcomed me to the stage.
Each chair in the presentation suite, for the 130+ guests had a beautiful leather notebook and pen, and yes, of course I received one too.

After my presentation, which focussed in on the understanding of generations, from both client and team perspectives finished, the guests were invited to attend a variety of different seminars from the Moroccanoil artistic team, which proved to be very popular.
Kevin looked at creative editorial work, Michel focused on trending techniques and Gareth looked at how to create a more engaging social world. Each individual seminar included goodie bags for the guests, from the new Grey Violet shades to travel sets, selfie lights, turbans, and lots of products.

The feedback from these events was incredible; listening to the hairdressers during the breaks, talking to each other about how they were going to take this information back to their salon was music to my ears. The vibe throughout the entire meeting was ultra positive, something that bodes well for the industry.

The evening was a fabulous BBQ event held in a beautiful walled garden. The night wasn’t dampened at all by the torrential rain, I personally think this might have had something to do with the free bar, the amazing Moroccanoil inspired cocktails and the incredible food. Fortunately we were under cover and the team from Joy even provided Moroccanoil branded umbrellas so nobody got drenched in their evening finery.
Oh I forgot to mention that every guest received a Moroccanoil hairdryer and a beautiful leather bag filled with goodies when they went to their rooms after check in. The gifts just kept on coming!

Day 2 was a Q&A forum featuring HJI’s Jayne Lewis Orr (or J-Lo as we now call her), Kevin, Gareth and myself. We were asked questions by Vanessa Boland, head of education at Joy. Questions ranged from ‘how to win the BHA’s, to ‘how to grow social media followers’, ‘ what are the upcoming trends in hair’ and everything in between. It was a really insightful and thought provoking way to end the showcase.
For me personally, it was one of the best events I have been involved with for a long time. Congratulations to everyone involved in the setting up, and organising of the 2 days. it was also wonderful to catch up with old friends….

….and make some new friends as well.

WELL DONE JOY LIMITED, MOROCCANOIL CREATIVES and EVERYONE INVOLVED!!
