In Don’t Sell Vol 3: Being Amazonian, taking control of Salon Professional Haircare, scalp active products were discussed as being an up and coming trend that salons need to get involved with. That was over a year ago and it’s really interesting to see how many brands have now launched specific ranges for scalp care. This is great news as looking after the scalp is as important as looking after hair.

Fabriq recently sent for review their new ‘Soothe’ range, a shampoo, conditioner and tonic which were duly sent out to reviewers, and I have also been using them myself.

Fabriq say: ‘Welcome to the calming world of Fabriq Soothe. Discover a sanctuary for your hair and scalp with our carefully curated Soothe Homecare Range. Harnessing the power of nature’s remedies, Soothe offers a harmonious blend of scalp care and hair nourishment. Dive into Soothe Shampoo, Conditioner, and Tonic to experience tranquillity, balance, and vitality in every wash’.

The reviews are in and here’s what everyone had to say:

Me! “Well regular readers of this blog  will know that my staple regime is scalp active products, specifically for anti hair loss, so I was delighted to be able to try Soothe for myself as an addition to my hair and scalp care.  The Soothe Shampoo is incredibly gentle and feels nourishing on my scalp, a soothing and relaxing start to the 3 part programme. As I don’t have much hair, conditioning products are something I tend not to use, but I have being using Soothe Conditioner  every evening and it definitely makes my scalp feel less sensitised and my hair feels softer without being weighed down. The Soothe Tonic is fabulous, the tea tree and menthol have a refreshing effect and leave my scalp feeling relaxed. I have continued to use my normal anti hair loss products every morning but the Soothe products are now my go to evening ritual as they definitely create a relaxed and stress free scalp. Fabulous”.

Karen says: “Although I tend to have a sensitive scalp I always choose products for my hair as it is long and coloured. But, Emil asked me to try Soothe and I am so glad he did. First of all, the condition of my hair doesn’t feel any different to when I use my normal products which was a huge relief. I do still use a colour conditioner every other time I wash my hair but I haven’t noticed any increase in fade since using products for my scalp. What I have noticed is the sensitivity I normally have has gone. This happened almost immediately after I started using the Soothe products and even when the kids are driving me crazy and my stress levels are through the roof, what I am aware of now is that my scalp doesn’t get all tense and sensitive. These products are really really good”.

Steve says: ” I’m not one for using products for any specific reason, normally it’s what I find in the bathroom. But, as Emil asked me to try this brand I have given it a go. The shampoo is great, I can feel a difference in the tightness of my scalp, it feels more relaxed. The conditioner I have used occasionally as my hair isn’t long enough to really justify using it, but the tonic is really good, I use it and leave it in (as instructed) and my scalp feels fresh and clean. Did Emil make me think about looking after my scalp more by giving me these products to review? Yes he did”.

Kate says: “I’m lucky as I am regularly given products to review, normally they are for my hair which is very long and curly, so this range, Fabriq Soothe, was a new one for me and I have to say I really like all three of them. The shampoo and conditioner I use like I would any products, massaging them into my scalp and then working through my hair and they do a brilliant job, no tangles, easy to comb through and my hair feels moisturised. My scalp feels more tingly and clean that I would normally feel from regular hair products, and when I use the tonic it feels really stimulated and nourished. I have been pleasantly surprised by how different the overall experience of using scalp active products has been”.

Summary: The trend for scalp actives is here to stay and has become a part of everyday homecare for consumers. There is an opportunity here for salons to grow their retail business organically because clients are (now) aware of the need to maintain a health scalp as well as healthy hair, and Fabriq offers something not available on the high street.
