Mark my words …. Christmas is coming and it’s coming fast. Look around you when you are out shopping and see what the big stores are doing, they are creating Christmas areas and they are creating them bigger and bolder than normal.
Do they know something? I think they do.
Have the marketeers and analysts who work in harmony on all big retail moments learnt something we haven’t heard about? I think they have.
So what might they have had access to that is making them create bigger and more extravagant shopping experiences for Christmas 2021. Unfortunately I don’t have the answer, but I have a very good, calculated guess that I would like to share with you.
Let’s go back to Christmas last year, remember it? Of course you do! Leading up to there big day we were in lockdown and on the day itself we were very limited to the amount of people we could see.
What did we do for our festive gift shopping … we went online and we bought anything and everything we could from Amazon etc. Of course we were able to buy some presents from shops that were operating but it was too little, too late, we had all merrily passed the time away in lockdown shopping from the comfort of our own home ….. not out of choice, more out of necessity.
This year, HALLELUJAH, it’s going to be different. Shops everywhere are open and we can visit family and friends again…. and it’s my (calculated) guess that we are going to push the boat out and indulge in lots of real time shopping. There is nothing better than wandering around the shops on a cold crisp day and browsing festive offerings, I have already started doing it and I am definitely living by the mantra #ShopLocal and #SupportLocal wherever possible. By the way, that includes supporting local and small businesses with online facilities.
You, and your salon / business need to get busy with Christmas right now. You don’t have to ‘deck the halls’ but you do need to share information about your festive gift offerings with clients as of today! Get your team on board, make sure they know about everything thats available and encourage them to talk to their clients about Christmas gifts.
This isn’t something you should think about doing mid November, that’s just way way way too late. Do it now and capture additional sales whilst you can. Think about hosting special events and putting offers on …. the big chemist that shall remain nameless is already offering 3 for 2 on their huge selection of festive gift sets, make sure you do something to excite your clients about what you have available and get them to support your business.
