Joico has always been one of mrhaircare’s favourite brands to hand out to reviewers as it is a high end, high performing product that always gets great results.
Defy Damage has been garnering incredible reviews since it was launched and I was thrilled to finally get my hands on some to hand out to a reviewer.
Dawn, a family member who is very fussy about her hair was the chosen reviewer this time. Chosen not because she is my sister, chosen because she absolutely says it as it is about any products.
“I’m not, as my brother suggests, fussy, I’m just particular about my hair. It’s highlighted and has a tendency to be slightly dry if I don’t look after it, but that doesn’t happen often. My daughter is a hairdresser and Emil always gives me products to try so I think generally it’s in good nick.
Joico is a product range I’ve not used before and when I was given 5 different things to review I was worried that they would never all get used. Normal routine is shampoo, condition and blow dry with a heat protector, so this was going to eb a challenge for me.
Two if the products are for salon use only so my daughter has used them when I had my last colour done. Pro series 1 Bond protecting spray and 2 Bond strengthening treatment were used before and after my highlights. My daughter was so impressed she asked if she could keep them to sue on her clients. Normally she would use a ‘plex’ product in the colour but she told me that the pro series worked as well as and perhaps even better than other products that look after the hair whilst its being coloured. I take her word for that!
I’ve been using shampoo, conditioner and protective shield at home and it’s fair to say my hair looks and feels lovely. The colour is staying vibrant and blonde, the feel of my hair is very soft without being floppy and the bounce and shine is great. The shampoo and conditioner are used like any other type but the difference in the result is obvious to me. The protective shield is a creamy consistency and is very easy to apply through my hair. It protects when I use my dryer and straighteners, I can tell that it’s doing a good job because my own blowdry looks much better than the usual result I get myself.
