Trawling through my memory bank of previous blog posts about haircare, I’m pretty certain I have never posted about a single product before, but Davines ‘a single shampoo’ deserves the accolade of being the very first solo posting.

WHY? Well as most readers of this site will know, I am (already) a big fan of Davines, I love the brand ethos, the products., the marketing and the overall ‘feel good’ factor the brand creates. BUT, ‘a single shampoo’ I believe, elevates everything to a level no other product company has yet achieved.

There is something about this shampoo that has absolutely hooked me in and I’m going to try and explain it as best I can.

The bottle: So unpretentious and simplistic, it’s fair to say this packaging looks like no other currently on the professional market. It’s plain to the extreme but still manages to look effortlessly stylish and interesting.

The name: ‘a single shampoo’ unlike most other shampoos from every company, including Davines, that are most definitely part of a range of products, this one stands out on it’s own. At the moment it’s not part of a specific hair or scalp range and is suitable for all hair types. The formulations is clean and environmentally friendly, and the name (rightly) suggest so! It’s also incredibly kind to the planet:

The poem: Why put a poem on a bottle of shampoo? Why not? It adds to the uniqueness of the product and makes it interesting, eccentric and appealing to the eye. Every time I use ‘a single shampoo’ I read the poem and it makes me smile, but more importantly it makes me think about me and my approach and attitude to life and my role here on planet Earth … deep eh!

The marketing: As usual it’s cool, it’s different and it offers a simplistic message, it’s also charming and unique. I read from it …. hit the road, take me with you, I am all you need, just me, ‘a single shampoo’

The performance: ‘a single shampoo’ is different to other shampoo’s I have used, and as most people know, I have used LOTS! It has a looser consistency than most, it spreads through the hair easily and lathers brilliantly, without creating a mass of unnecessary bubbles. It rinses away effortlessly and leaves my hair feeling nourished, smooth and cleansed. A little goes a long long way.

I suppose one could say it’s just a shampoo and not be doing the product an injustice, however, for me, it’s more than that, it’s a story in a bottle that speaks to the senses in a way most products I’ve used doesn’t. I’m (obvs) very impressed and look forward to seeing how this one product line develops, and what Davines next brings to market that hopefully creates as much an impact as ‘a single shampoo’ has done on me.
